Week of August 17-20

The August 10-14 Band Camp was a great success! Congratulations to the staff, boosters, and most importantly, the members of the '09 Pride of the Old Dominion!
Current Announcements Include:

• We need a CDL Driver for our truck....please let us know if you can help or know someone who can.
• Please check the web-based (google) band calendar for up to date information. The hand-out calendars (given out in May/June) are significantly out of date...please don't rely on them.

SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK

Monday, August 17: Practice at turf field from 5:30-9 (memorized Mvmt I, II, III--up to ms 212 at least; fight song memorized also).

Tuesday, August 18: 10:15-11:30 (black socks required for pictures...more details will be given monday night)

Wednesday, August 19: practice noon-5pm (eat lunch BEFORE practice)

Thursday, August 20: Practice 1:30-6pm (dinner provided) potluck dessert following the 6 o'clock parent show.

Salem DCI Show

Monday, July 27, at 7:00 pm is the Salem Summer Music Games DCI (Drum Corps International) Show at Salem Stadium. For tickets go to http://www.salembandboosters.org/dci/

The Cavaliers www.cavaliers.org will be rehearsal (free and open to the public) at Heritage High School that morning and afternoon. Glass band members are expected to go watch for a while if you're in town. See you there!

The latest newsletter is now online. See the forms section to the right. And, if you haven't turned in your medical forms or application/agreement form for 2009, they are due and also available for download in the forms section to the right.

Finally, our own Chris Rockwell (trumpet section leader) continues to shine as he performs with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps. Check them out at www.bluestars.org. The corps is doing incredibly well...and continues to make dci history with their rise to the top as a top 6 drum corps. Come out and hear the band perform what they’ve learned so far! We will be taking orders for band t-shirts, with a special one-night discount at the Preview show. A pot-luck picnic will be held immediately following the performance. Please bring the following – enough to serve 8-10:

Main Dish – 9th & 10th grades
Side Dish – 11th grade
Dessert – 8th & 12th grades

Drinks will be provided by the Boosters. You may also want to bring a chair or blanket.



EC GLASS BAND YARD SALE

Saturday, June 20, 7:00am
On the Langhorne Rd. lawn
**Your Help Needed!**
1) Bring items to donate ALL WEEK and drop off at the Band Room or inside the Blue Truck parked behind the band room. Donations accepted through NOON on Friday. NO CLOTHING, except infant and toddler.
2) Sorting & Pricing party – Friday, 9am – noon. Please come out and help sort and price items for sale, and make signs.
3) Yard Sale volunteers – arrive between 5:30 and 6:00am to help set up. Also, we need several adults to work the check-out table during the sale. Students may help monitor tables and answer questions. Take down at 12:00, reload truck with unsold items, and possible delivery to Goodwill that afternoon. We’ll take any time you can give us.
